UK-based BlackBox Multimedia and EO Media in Latin America have optioned the book La Historia de Dinamic for a high-end Spanish drama series about the origins of the video game industry.
Javier Olivares has been appointed as head writer and showrunner for the project, which tells the story of the company Dinamic Software and the Ruiz brothers, who created a video game empire from their parents’ house in the 1980s.
It will explore a story of brotherhood and rivalry, love and treason amidst the buzz of the expanding video game industry in the 80s.
Blackbox Multimedia and EO Media optioned the book by Jesús Martínez del Vas from Madrid-based agency Scenic Rights.
Olivares (The Ministry of Time) will work with co-writers Pablo Lara (The Ministry of Time) and Bruno Teixidor (The Cosmonaut: Transmedia Experience) on the project.
Ezequiel Olzanski, CEO of EO Media, said: “We found a story that appears to be out of a movie, out of Hollywood, or out of Silicon Valley, but it isn’t. It is real and happened right here, in Spain, in the 80s in the middle of the crazy ‘movida madrileña.’”
