CD Projekt faced multiple class action lawsuits from its investors following the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 in December 2020, which was mired in controversy due to the low quality of the game when played on the previous generation of consoles, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, from visuals, to performance, to the litany of bugs and glitches present.

The first lawsuit was submitted in December 2020, with a second lawsuit following shortly after in January 2021.

Back in December 2021, around a year after the game’s launch, CD Projekt announced that it had entered settlement negotiations with its investors. Just over year later, the court has concluded that CD Projekt will pay a sum of $1,850,000, which will be used to pay “eligible class members, settlement administration costs, taxes, attorney’s fees and costs”, and more.

Despite Cyberpunk 2077‘s somewhat disastrous start to life, CD Projekt has recently managed to turn things around, with the game’s fortunes being lifted by the successful Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, multiple updates bringing the game up to par, and the upcoming release of a new expansion DLC.
