Monster Hunter Rise Won’t Get a Physical Release on Xbox

Monster Hunter Rise won’t be getting a physical release on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

Capcom has confirmed to news outlet Gematsu that the release of Monster Hunter Rise on Xbox and PlayStation consoles will be digital only at launch, with “no physical editions planned”.

First released exclusively on Nintendo Switch back in March 2021, before coming to PC earlier this year, Monster Hunter Rise was announced last week to be coming to Xbox via Xbox Game Pass, with a January 2023 release date. However, unlike the Nintendo Switch version, which did release physically, it seems Xbox users will have to settle on a digital purchase, if they wish to own the game.

Capcom hasn’t clarified why it’s taken this decision, given the huge popularity of the Monster Hunter franchise, and the success of Monster Hunter World on consoles back in 2018.

Monster Hunter Rise is launching on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC on 20th January 2023.
