– The Wildcats got on the board at the 4:04 mark of the first period as Cy LeClerc finished off an odd-man rush.
– UNH extended the lead to 2-0 at 13:38 off a broken play as Chase Stevenson one-timed a loose puck into the back of the net.
– Providence appeared to get on the board late in the second period on a delayed penalty as Craig Needham scored off a rebound but after a UNH challenge the officials waived off the goal due to goaltender interference.
– The Friars boasted a 18-5 shot advantage in the third period, but nothing was getting past Fessenden as he turned away all 35 shots he faced on the night. Providence hit two posts during a late 6-on-5 advantage.
