Omega Esports opened their title defense bid with a shaky 1-1 split against Thailand’s Do Not Sleep Esports n the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asian Cup (MSC) 2022 groupstage on Sunday.

They displayed superb dominance in Game 1 but succumbed in a close Game 2. The team has a chance to bounce back against MPL Indonesia Champions  RRQ Hoshi later in the day in a bid to avoid early elimination from the tournament.

The defending MSC champs easily took control of the opener owing to a 7-0 lead on the kill tally by the 5th minute.

After securing the luminous lord, Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog (Grock) then executed a two-man knock up on the Wild charge that helped Omega finish off the Thai competitors in the 14th minute.

Omega finished the match with a monstrous 16-1 kill domination led by Ch4knu’s 1-1-10 KDA. Patrick James “E2Max” Caidic also provided solid support in the midlane with a stellar performance on Julian en route to a 5-0-7 KDA.

In Game 2, INDS Esports banked on a superior earlly game composition, taking Fanny and Natalia in the draft, that led to a 9-2 kill lead at the 6th minute.

Omega mounted a 12th minute rally, taking a 2-0 kills in a midlane clash but the Thai successfully disoriented Omega in the ensuing lord fight that led to takedowns on Christian “Raizen” Sumagui (Ling) and Duane “Kelra” Pillas (Beatrix) plus the luminous lord.

Piya “ZanRi” Sriwilat then scored a crucial pick off on Kelra in a 23rd minute lord fight that touched off a 5-3 wipe out to even out the series.
