Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising and This War of Mine: Final Cut are among this week’s new Xbox releases.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Rising is a promising new action role-playing game from Yoshitaka Murayama and Rabbit & Bear Studios. Although it isn’t the spiritual successor to Murayama’s Suikoden series fans are waiting for, it lays the groundwork for Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes, which most certainly is. With Hundred Heroes delayed, Rising gives players an introduction to the new IP’s characters and lore.
Given current global events, it’s hard to be that enthusiastic about games that make entertainment from warfare. This War of Mine: Final Cut is the one exception.
11 Bit Studios’ acclaimed anti-war game comes to Xbox Series X|S with improved visuals, performance, and UI. Three additional DLC episodes will be available to purchase separately or included with the game’s complete edition.
The Poland-based studio says that the conflict in Ukraine was the motivator for the game’s re-release, and it recently raised $700,000 for aid through digital discounts.
Studio CEO Przemek Marszal says:
“The message and themes existing inside of This War of Mine have, unfortunately, become brutally vivid and relevant in recent months. We believe it’s especially important to educate people on the realities of war right now, while its horrifying reality has become a daily struggle for people that are close to us. We’re proud that recent This War of Mine fundraising helped us create a wave of spontaneous help for war victims in Ukraine, and we hope we can further spread our antiwar message with This War of Mine: Final Cut.”
Other new Xbox releases include Evil Dead: The Game and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair Anniversary Edition. We’ll update this post with any last-minute Xbox releases throughout the week.

We hate to ask, but…
Thumbsticks has a couple of goals. We want to write interesting articles and cover games that most outlets won’t, and we want to give opportunities to new writers and new voices. And right now, with the current state of online publishing? It’s tough to meet those goals! We hate to ask, but if you want us to continue writing what others won’t, or to keep covering weird indie games, or to be able to give opportunities to new writers – and only if you can afford it – then please consider supporting us on Patreon.
