The Xbox App on iOS and Android has been updated to include Stories, functionality similar to that seen inside apps like Instagram and Snapchat.
The functionality has been rolled out to Australians as part of a May update and is expected “soon” for other regions.
“Stories lets you showcase your skills and keep up to date with your friends, Microsoft said. “You can share your favorite gaming moments including game clips, screenshots, and achievements with your friends and the Xbox community. You can also reply to your friends’ stories with a message or a quick reaction.”
Story content will remain viewable for 72 hours after posting and will also be available via a player’s activity feed.
As Microsoft indicated, players can choose to add specific Achievements or captures as part of their own personal Story. From our testing, it appears that only Xbox One and Xbox Series S & X titles are supported; our recent Achievements and captures inside the likes of the Xbox 360’s Dark Souls weren’t available.
We’ve gone to Microsoft for clarification on backwards compatible content and will report back when more is known.
Are you keen to use Stories inside the Xbox App? Why or why not?
