Following G2 Esports’s series of dismal showings, the France-based coach has decided to step down from his role.

G2’s head coach Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam resigned last week, the team revealed. Jan “Swani” Müller, who has been with the squad for many years and most recently served as an analyst, will take over the role of head coach in an interim capacity until the end of the year.

At the European RMR A, the elimination match that G2 Esports played against Team GamerLegion ended in a shocking loss for Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen and his men. As a consequence of this, the squad did not make it into the IEM Rio Major 2022, putting an end to its streak of participating in 11 consecutive Majors in a row.

The departure of XTQZZZ does confirm an earlier report by 1pv.fr who were the first ones to figure out and update us on this outcome.

G2 Esports only managed to come out on top of two of the six maps played during the qualification, falling to unanticipated competitors such as 1win and Team GamerLegion along the way. As a result, the team’s overall performance was below average at best.

Rémy “XTQZZZ” Quoniam, G2 Esports CS:GO Head Coach, said that G2 Esports lost confidence during the qualifier and was promptly penalized for it after it failed to qualify for the Rio Major. Quoniam was speaking about the team’s performance after it failed to qualify for the Rio Major.

Because of this decision, the Frenchman’s time spent working for the organization, which began in January 2022, has come to an end. He joined the team with IGL Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen and handled two changes during the summer break in the European combine: HooXi and Justin “jks” Savage.

Given that Jan “Swani” Müller will continue in his job as European combination head until the end of the year, the European combine has plenty of time to choose his or her successor. During that span of time, G2 is only scheduled to appear in one competition: the BLAST Premier Fall Final, which will take place before the end of November.

With XTQZZZ’s departure G2 Esports are now :

Rasmus “HooXi” Nielsen

Justin “jks” Savage

Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov

Nikola “NiKo” Kovač

Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač
